When and Which Jobs Will UAVs Take Over?

When and Which Jobs Will UAVs Take Over?

With any new disruptive industry, change occurs, and the UAV industry is no different. However, I feel like there a fair amount of concern that UAVs may take the place of humans, effectively displacing them from job opportunities. While that may occur in some cases, it probably won’t occur in most, at least not for some time.

First UAVs need to overcome the visual line of sight limitation; which won’t be happening anytime soon.

This regulation prohibiting operating a drone beyond the visual line of sight of the operator certainly creates a limit to uses of the technology. The visual line of sight is the distance the operator can physically see without using any monitors.

Reality Check: Drones Will Take the Dull, Dirty, Dangerous Jobs

Once that is overcome and UAVs can easily be used in the workplace, the jobs that they are well matched aren’t really what I would consider to be glamorous; it seems like the author of “Reality Check: Drones Will Take the Dull, Dirty, Dangerous Jobs” agrees.

There would be several jobs drones would be able to take over with the right regulatory changes. These jobs include inspecting remote wind turbines, checking on cell towers so workers don’t need to climb them, or even providing real time news coverage.

If you are really concerned, then do something about it. Get drone operator training and learn the skills you need to be part of the UAV industry instead of being displaced by it.
